What Is Chevrolet Changing on the Trax and Trailblazer for 2027?

If you have been following Chevrolet’s small SUVs, you may have heard that the Trax and Trailblazer are getting updates for 2027. Chevrolet announced the changes on October 8, 2026, and they touch nearly every part of both vehicles.

To make the news easy to follow, we have broken it into the questions shoppers ask most. Each answer comes straight from Chevrolet’s announcement, so you know exactly what to expect when the updated models are anticipated to arrive in spring 2027.

Which Trims Will Be Offered?

Both models will come in three trims.

The 2027 Trax comes as LT, RS and ACTIV. The 2027 Trailblazer comes as LT, RS and the all-new Z71. Chevrolet says the Trax lineup has been streamlined, which makes comparing trims simpler.

What Is New on Safety?

Chevrolet upgraded the electrical and software architecture in both SUVs. This allows the 2027 Trax and Trailblazer to include more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features.

The standard list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat and Blind Zone Steering Assist. Features new to the standard list for 2027 include:

  • Reverse Automatic Braking
  • Rear Cross Traffic Braking
  • Side Bicyclist Alert
  • Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Front Park Assist and Rear Seat Belt Indicator

Are the Screens Bigger?

Yes. Both models get a new, larger standard 11-inch-diagonal driver information centre and an 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen.

What Connected Features Are Included?

The system uses Google built-in with Gemini compatibility, and an OnStar Basics plan of up to eight years is included.

OnStar One will be newly available and will come included for 12 months. It covers the full suite of OnStar services, such as in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot capability and video streaming.

How Does the Trax Look Different?

The Trax receives a more premium look and feel. Chevrolet lists a new grille, new wheel designs, all-LED taillamps and a redesigned liftgate.

Each trim also gets its own details. The LT has wheels with a higher-contrast finish for an urban look. The RS rides on 19-inch wheels, the largest across all Trax trims. The ACTIV keeps an adventure-inspired look with a unique front-end design.

What Changes Inside the Trax?

Distinctive hexagonal side vents give the instrument panel a fresh, modern appearance. Chevrolet will also make a power liftgate available on the Trax for the first time.

What Is the Trailblazer Z71?

The Z71 is a new trim for the Trailblazer. Chevrolet calls it the brand’s entry-level adventure-ready AWD model.

It includes standard all-wheel drive, an off-road-tuned suspension, an underbody skid plate and sport-terrain tires. Inside, it gets debossed front-row headrests and a new Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray interior with Orange accents.

Where Does the Z71 Name Come From?

Chevrolet has used the “Z” identifier since 1963 to signal added capability. Z71 first appeared on Chevrolet’s full-size pickups in 1988. Today it is offered on the Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado and Silverado, and now the Trailblazer joins that list.

What Changes Inside the Trailblazer?

Chevrolet designed the Trailblazer interior around the driver. A new column-mounted shifter allowed for a redesigned centre console with more flexible storage. The cupholders retract to provide more open storage space.

The updated design also adds HVAC vents for rear passengers. The AutoSense power liftgate will be available on the Trailblazer as well.

Is There a New Interior Colour?

Yes. Storm Sky Gray is an all-new interior colour for the Chevrolet brand, and it debuts on the Trax and Trailblazer. Chevrolet describes it as a natural, earthy tone.

When Will the Updated Models Arrive?

The 2027 Trax and Trailblazer are anticipated to be available at Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027.
